Do you love the beauty of waterfalls? We do too and Western North Carolina has an abundance of them. Let us show you some beautiful waterfalls in the Asheville area.

This tour lasts for about 5 to 6 hours and we include a picnic lunch…no need to worry about going hungry when you are with us!

We start the day off with a drive that is just less than one hour and we visit our first set of waterfalls. They vary in size and volume but not in beauty.

We then visit a further fall, followed by a lovely picnic lunch and a leisurely drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway – stopping at our favorite places to get magnificent views.

We are certified to lead a guided tour in the Pisgah National Forest, Blue Ridge Parkway and Dupont State Forest.

A brief driving city tour of Asheville followed by a short hike to watch the sunset over the mountains.

Even when the clouds roll in, this tour is fabulous as you revel in an ‘out of this world’ experience.

We’ll venture into the beautiful countryside with several stop off points, breathe in fresh air, see stunning sites & finish off the tour with a sunset view. Snacks included. Guests should possess a good level of fitness as we’ll be hiking on a trail for a total of about 25-35 minutes (at a pace of 2-3 miles per hour).

Snacks are provided (think strawberries & chocolate hummus, cheese, crackers & nibbles) in addition to bottled water.

We are certified to lead a guided tour in the Pisgah National Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Following a 30 minute drive, we shall hike to the base of the falls, which is about a 30-35 minute hike.

En route we will discover plant life in the region and watch & listen for wildlife. At the summit we will marvel at the beauty of the falls and enjoy a continental breakfast (sitting on rocks or on the side, there are no picnic tables/chairs or facilities there). It’s beautiful & rustic, as mother nature intended!

Pick up in the Asheville downtown area c. 8:00 am. We can collect from downtown Asheville hotels or within a 2 mile radius, please message us your hotel details for pick-up.

In total we shall hike about 2.5 to 3 lovely miles with approximately 60 minutes of hiking. Guests should be in good physical shape and able to hike at a steady pace on a constant climb for 1.5 miles in each direction (up to 3 miles roundtrip).

Bring a camera, there are lots of things along the way in addition to the falls. Wear sneakers/hiking boots and dress in layers. It can start out much colder in the morning.

A typical breakfast includes: fresh cut fruit, muffins, orange juice and bananas. Our guests never go home hungry!

We are certified as guides in the Pisgah National Forest.

Hiking followed by breweries…yay!

We go beyond the city on this trip to enjoy a refreshing hike before sampling some of the fine beers on offer in this great place.

We start the day off driving to a gorgeous destination for a guided hike, typically we will hike for 2 to 3 miles in total. After that, we continue  on to visit 2 to 3 breweries. We have our favorites but we are happy to try and accommodate your requests too!

Destinations visited could vary as we tailor our tours to seasonal changes (and do our best to avoid where the crowds go!). Let us drive you around beautiful Asheville area & be your guide while you enjoy local brews care-free. We are happy to tailor this to wineries or cideries on a private tour.

Included in the cost of the tour is 2 x 8oz beers. Total tour duration is approximately 4.5 hours, we anticipate having you back in Asheville by 2.30pm.

We are permitted to guide in the Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National Forest.

This is a driving and walking tour, where we shall walk for approx. 2 miles at a comfortable pace of 2 to 2.5 miles per hour, with several stops en-route.

We start downtown, looking at glorious art-deco architecture coupled with a detailed history of the area. Following that, we’ll venture for a comprehensive tour of the gloriously beautiful Riverside Cemetery. We will stop at graveyards and delve into the intriguing history of many of Asheville’s past literary and/or notable residents including William Sydney Porter (aka O’Henry), Thomas Wolfe & his family, the ‘founding fathers’ of Asheville and Asheville’s connection to the cursed Hope Diamond.

The walking element of the tour is classified as easy to moderate. This tour is for history and architecture buffs!

The driving tour is by private luxury SUV. We are fully licensed and insured.

If you would prefer to walk at a slower pace, please contact us so that we can see if we can accommodate you on a private tour. A small supplement will apply

GET TO KNOW ME

Hi I’m Natasha and thanks for checking out Brass Monkey Photography. My passions in life (apart from photography, of course) are rescue animals, craft beer and traveling to as much of the world as I can.

I’m a “foster-failure” when it comes to pets, at one point I had 13 cats (I guess that officially makes me a crazy cat lady) but I’m OK with that. I now have a more manageable 3 cats but who knows when that number might increase!

If you are interested in a photography session please reach out to me and ask me anything! I love meeting new people and fyi… I am an introvert at heart and so I fully appreciate how ‘awkward’ it can feel to be in front of a camera lens. The most important and endearing thing that my clients tell me is that they had FUN with me. Getting you to relax and be comfortable in your skin is my job and I LOVE it.

Boring stuff…I’m a member of the Professional Photographers Association and hold certification from the New York Institute of Photography – but you’re not interested in that…you just want to know that I am going to make you look and feel beautiful. Photographs as keepsakes.

Customer Reviews

Asheville City Tour: Excellent experience

This tour exceeded our expectations at every level. Natasha, our tour guide, was an absolute delight
and a fountain of information. She did an excellent job of describing the history, architecture and
famous citizens of Asheville.

Asheville City Tour: Learn at your leisure, an excellent tour

Natasha has a wealth of knowledge and we learnt so much about this sweet, kind city in 2.5 hours –
moved at a leisurely pace but covered so much because she made it so very interesting – would highly
recommend. Thank you Natasha.

City & Sky: Fantastic-don’t miss it!!

Very personal tour, Natasha seemed more like a friend than ‘tour guide’. Super sweet and funny, great
communication before and during our time together, extremely memorable experience!

Waterfall Mania

My friend and I did the Waterfall Mania Tour with Brass Monkey Photography, Natasha was our amazing tour guide. She picked us up at our area hotel and drove us, along with another booked guest, to the DuPont National Forest where we began our hike which took us to our first stop at Triple Falls. We had time to take pictures and she was available to answer photography questions to us who’s main focus was on photographing the magnificent falls. Our next stop was High Falls. The trail was listed as moderate and our pace was very good. She was proactive and accommodating to all hikers equally; she provided walking sticks, bottled water and answered any questions we had. She was amazingly knowledgeable about the Asheville and surrounding areas. We experienced a rain shower while viewing the High Falls and she had ponchos available for everyone. After our return hike to the parking lot, our next stop was Looking Glass Falls; Pisgah National Forest. Again, we found the experience awesome; the beauty, the relaxed atmosphere; the interactions and the bonding we had experienced among us by this time was all good. After leaving this area we headed out to find a comfortable place to conclude our tour with a picnic lunch, provided by Natasha. I would have no reservation booking another tour with Brass Monkey Photography and would highly recommend the service to anyone who is interested in waterfalls and hiking the area trails.

Waterfall Mania: Couldn’t have been better!

This was by far the highlight of my Asheville trip! Natasha first started off by recommending the tour time be moved to account for bad weather…. which was fantastic. I was afraid it would be canceled. The rest of the day was fantastic! Seeing both waterfalls and the parkway and also a spot for a sunset! When I go back, I will definitely schedule a different tour. The pictures that I was able to take with Natasha’s guidance speak for themselves!

Waterfall Mania: Waterfalls/mountain views/ hiking/Lunch

I would like to say that this tour was a great opportunity to hike and see some of the most beautiful waterfalls that I’ve ever seen in North Carolina. Natasha our guide was the absolute best, she was knowledgeable and did not rush us. She even had a wonderful picnic planned for us. I would definitely recommend this tour to families, couples, and older adults.

Morning Waterfall Hike: Fantastic Start to a Fantastic Day

Natasha did an outstanding job on our hiking tour. My wife and I had never visited the Appalachians before, and she gave us a great first glimpse to their beauty. We departed from our hotel promptly, with refreshments provided. The morning was beautiful, with the early dawn dew and fog burning off of the farm grass in the shade as we drove through the Pisgah National Forest; it was truly great. As we walked up the trail there was scarcely another person because we got there so early, breathing fresh mountain air. Upon reaching the falls, we practically had the entire place to ourselves and were able to look on them for twenty minutes uninterrupted by anyone else. Take this tour, it is the perfect way to start your day. Additionally, Natasha is an incredibly well travelled person, so she is great to get tips on where to go next.

Morning Waterfall Hike: Awesome Trip

Natasha was amazing. We wouldn’t have made it all the way to the top of the falls without her guidance and assistance. She provided well needed walking cans, information throughout the walk and a great breakfast.
Thank you so much!

Morning Waterfall Hike: A Hike That Will Always Be Remembered

Our hike with Natasha (Brass Monkey Photography) was fresh, peaceful, rejuvenating, and down right perfect. She went above and beyond to make sure we would be comfortable (provided hiking sticks), hydrated (provided the water), and energized (provided fruit, yogurt, and blueberry muffins). We had delightful conversations and good laughs. When we come back to this area again; we will book Brass Monkey Photography again 100% and see what Natasha’s next hike adventure would be. We didn’t just gain an Adventure Guide; we gained a friend.

Morning Waterfall Hike: “Fall” in love with Asheville!

My ideal vacation features time outdoors experiencing local nature and culture. This tour was a great way to kick-off my stay in Asheville! I’m a morning and outdoor person, so the early start was just right for me! Natasha is an excellent guide and genuinely great person! Unlike most guides, she didn’t cancel because I was the only participant. She stayed in communication with me and showed up on time – and with provisions! She had hiking sticks, breakfast muffin and fruit, water, and even gloves and extra coat on case I needed it. The hike up Catawba Falls was invigorating and highlighted by having breakfast at the foot of the waterfall. Natasha taught me about the history of the Pisgah National Forest and how important it is to preserve nature’s beauty! To top it all off, she is a great photographer and took excellent shots that I will use in my holiday album! Definitely a great experience for anyone who wants an up close view of the beauty of Asheville!

Asheville City Tour: Great tour of Asheville with excellent tour guide.

Natasha at Brass Monkey Photography was an excellent tour guide. She was lively, very well informed, excellent at adapting the tour to our particular interests and a very enjoyable person to be with. The walking tour enabled us to see the sights of downtown Asheville and learn about the history and architecture of the town while the driving tour enabled us to see some of the beautiful neighbors and views from the hills around Asheville. We highly recommend this tour.

Asheville City Tour: Outstanding

Our tour of Asheville was amazing. Natasha was a fantastic and entertaining guide and had a wealth of knowledge about the city and it’s famous residents. She was extremely gracious and put up with our endless questions. We came away from the tour with a new appreciation of Asheville, its lovely setting, and its wonderful architecture.

Asheville City Tour: Great way to learn about Asheville!

My wife and I made our first trip to Asheville and decided to take the city tour to learn about the city. Natasha, our tour guide, was a wealth of information and patiently answered all of our questions.

We had a great time on the walking tour learning about the city’s history, architecture, and great places to eat. It was clear that Natasha had really put her time in studying all about Asheville’s history, I would highly encourage anyone that’s new to Asheville to take this tour.

Thanks Natasha!!

Natasha was great!! I purchased this experience for my daughter’s 19th birthday and she truly learned a lot and throughly enjoyed herself. We both felt very comfortable and welcome. My daughter has a gluten allergy and Natasha went out of her way to accommodate! She was very kind and even gave my daughter a birthday card. Awesome experience!!

Morning Waterfall Hike: Memorable

This is a great introduction to hiking in Asheville and includes a gorgeous waterfall! Tasha also brings a thoughtful and filling breakfast to enjoy at the base of the falls. She is delightful hiking company- has lived all over the world and has fully embraced Asheville as home. Great insights into the area and a very warm and informative guide. So glad I did this.

Waterfall Mania: Vacation

Natasha was a wonderful guide and host for our tour. My boys and I did the Waterfall Mania tour. I told her we’re not necessarily interested so much in the photography as seeing the waterfalls. She was quite fine adjusting her tour for us. She also gave us the option of spending more time swimming at Hooker Falls or driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. My boys were much more interested swimming. She provided an excellent lunch catering to my picky boys. They came away full. They were very much NOT interested doing this tour beforehand, but all came away thrilled that we did the tour. It was a highlight.

Views & Brews: Awesome day!

I booked this tour last minute and Natasha was very accommodating. She tailored the day to my requests, as I was the only one on the tour that day. I got some amazing photos and she taught me a lot about using my new camera. She’s very knowledgeable about photography, so if you want to improve your skills then this is definitely the tour guide for you. We did a driving tour of downtown, a stop at the arboretum, a drive through the mountain with scenic stops, and a break at the brewery. Natasha is a great guide and I highly recommend this tour!

City & Sky: An Ashville “MUST DO”

WOW! WOW! WOW! What a GREAT experience we had traveling up and down through the mountains and winding edges. The short hike we made up a natural rock trail while viewing the natural tree canopies. Breathtaking. Not because of the hike either. The Mountain Views, are oh surreal and breath taking moments all alone the way. Defiantly a photo taking trip, with a guide that has a photo eye, not to mention “Natasha” willing to help you get that quality pic. The pure beauty of the land and sky touching each other will take your breath away. Touching the clouds rolling in around you and still having 2 feet on the ground, Price Less!!!!!

City & Sky: Highly Recommend

My husband and I had only one full day in Asheville. We toured the Biltmore estate in the morning and early afternoon and then took this tour beginning at 5:00pm. It was the perfect day!
Natasha knows so much about Asheville’s history, great hiking spots, and photography. This tour is a wonderful combination of hiking and a photography lesson. We saw trails we never would have found on our own and left with amazing photos. Even when the weather didn’t fully cooperate in capturing the sunset, our photos of the clouds falling through the mountains, and the lush hiking trails are beautiful. She even took some candid photos of my husband and me that were fun to see the next day!
You can be assured that no matter the weather, Natasha will show you the incredible beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains and you will have stunning photos with which to remember your experience.
We highly recommend this wonderful tour!!

Views & Brews: Perfect photography/beer tour

We didn’t want to waste time fending off fellow tourists nor going through the trial and error of which locations along the Blue Ridge Trail would be most picturesque. Natasha took us to several less populated spots, one of which included a 10-minute “hike” that netted us a 360 degree view. At each location, she was able to give us several tips on our specific cameras that instantly improved our shots.
Natasha recommended several breweries along the way and was willing to make multiple stops. On our drive home, she suggested countless unique options for nightly entertainment in Asheville.
If you’re going on a tour, pick them. It’s been the highlight of our trip and we can’t wait to recommend it to family and friends.

City & Sky: Stunning

Amazing views, incredible shots, and delightful tour guide. Not only did Natasha know all the great places to get stunning pictures of the sun setting over the mountains, her photography experience helped me set up gorgeous pictures. I’m definitely an amateur photographer and Natasha was more than happy to teach me lessons that helped me grab pictures which will adorn my walls and help me on future photoshoots. Fun fact- Natasha has actually had a photo published by Nat Geo. Can’t wait to brag to my friends about how I hung out with a Nat Geo photographer.
If you’re in Asheville, this tour is a MUST!

Waterfall Mania: Fabulous waterfall tour

So glad that we did this tour when we were visiting Asheville at the beginning of June. Natasha was very knowledgeable about the area and showed us some beautiful spots. She knew where the crowds would be and how we could best avoid them (it was a sunny weekend). Views were stunning and we came away with beautiful photos.
